2003S V Abbey Villa Robbie Mateer Premier Division

Friday night seen us take on Abbey Villa at Londonderry Park in our third league game.

In typical derby game fashion it was a tight and tense affair. In the first half there was few highlights with Ards only making one real chance which seen Curtis pull his shot just wide. Abbey Villa also only created one chance but Dylan Currie in the Ards goal was equally to it and pulled off a good save.

The second half continued in the same way both teams being evenly matched and creating a couple of chances but neither were unable to break the deadlock, it was becoming a real battle of possession in the midfield. However with 15 minutes left to go Ards were awarded a penalty when Josh was brought down in the box, and Curtis converted the spot kick. Ards joy was shortly lived as after their goal, Abbey Villa upped their pressure and got the equaliser 5 minutes later. Ards werent going to settle for the draw and were pushing for a winner, which came with a minute left when the ball fell to Josh in the box and he placed it into the bottom left corner.
