Match Preview: Linfield [h]

Ards vs Linfield.

Bangor Fuels Arena.

Tuesday 1st January at 3.00 p.m.

Can Ards follow up their first away win of the season by maintaining their good recent record against second placed Linfield is the question every Ards fan will be asking before this game. The three points won against Dungannon, not to mention the three goals, will surely have given hope that the team can maintain their unbeaten record against the Blues this season.

In normal circumstances it would be difficult to change the team that played so well at Stangmore Park, but with Gareth Tommons set to miss this game through suspension after accumulating five yellow cards, I'm sure if David McAllister is fully fit, most Ards fans would hope that he will take a place in the starting eleven. His ability to beat his marker and set up chances could be crucial against a Linfield side who are unbeaten in their last six games in all competitions and haven't conceded a goal in their last four. Young Scott McArthur will not be considered after chipping a bone in his arm playing for the Seconds yesterday.

Linfield will be missing Michael O'Connor who was dismissed late on in the win at Solitude last time out, but still have a potent strike force with the likes of Andrew Waterworth and Jordan Stewart in good form and looking to test the youthful Ards centre back pairing of Byers and McAleenan who have performed so well in the absence of Elebert and Taylor.

There is sure to be a big holiday crowd at this one with the result important for both sides for very different reasons, so get there early!
