Match Preview: Linfield [h]

ARDS vs LINFIELD.

DANSKE BANK PREMIERSHIP.

CLANDEBOYE PARK.

SATURDAY OCTOBER 20th @ 3pm

By Stuart Dellow

When top meets bottom, or in this case next to bottom on goal difference, there is usually only one outcome. Add in the fact that top has the meanest defence in the League, while next to bottom have scored one goal in the last seven League games and it isn't difficult to see why fans of Ards [next to bottom for those that haven't worked it out] might not relish the prospect of taking on Linfield on Saturday.

Ever the optimist, I have to point out that last time the two teams played, at the National Stadium in September, Ards had a game plan that frustrated the Blues and came away with a well deserved point that could have been three if Kyle Cherry had been able to get a late chance on target. There is also the hope that there is some improvement on the injury front and players who have been out for a while are getting back to match fitness.

This is the first of three difficult games for Ards, with away games against resurgent moneybags Larne [no, not at all jealous!] in the County Antrim Shield on Tuesday and a trip to the Oval to face Glentoran next Saturday, fans will be looking for the usual hard working team effort with maybe a rub of the green that has been missing in recent games.
