Match Preview: Bangor (a)

BANGOR F.C. vs ARDS F.C.

SPECTATOR and CHRONICLE CUP

BANGOR FUELS ARENA

THURSDAY 5th JULY at 7.30 p.m.

By Stuart Dellow.

I'm not normally one to get too excited about pre-season games but there are at least three good reasons to look forward to this one, firstly we are in the middle of the World Cup which has reminded us how good football can be, secondly there are no World Cup games on Thursday night so we can enjoy the great weather and get out and watch a live match, thirdly we are playing Bangor and there is silverware at stake!

Ards players have resumed training, [what close season?] and fans will no doubt be keen to see some of the new signings in action. At the time of writing team news is not available but I'm sure those that are involved on Thursday will be out to make a good impression on manager Colin Nixon.

Bangor have slipped down the leagues and are currently looking forward to their second season in the Ballymena and District League having just missed out last season on the title and the promotion play-off place that would have gone along with it. Bangor will no doubt be looking at the World Cup results and thinking that if South Korea can beat Germany anything is possible!

Come along and get to know our new faces, or familiar faces as in the case of Eamon McAllister and Jason Mooney, enjoy sunshine, live football and hopefully a derby win for Ards and our first trophy of the season!
