Lots of rumour and speculation about recently but the following alterations to our playing squad are 100% definite so read on!
Firstly, as all but those that have been hibernating will know, Jonny Frazer is already in Australia having left on December 29th to spend a year "down under". His registration has been cancelled but I'm sure like me, all Ards fans would welcome him back if/when he returns to N. Ireland.
Other departures so far confirmed are Ryan Strain, who has returned to Linfield at the end of his loan spell and Marc McKenna, who has joined Knockbreda.
Ards F.C. would like to take this opportunity to thank these players for their contribution to the club.
David Elebert has had to call time on his playing career as repeated injuries took their toll. David has agreed a reduction in his pay in order to get the opportunity to gain some coaching experience with the club, a mutually beneficial arrangement as he could have continued as a player until the end of the season on full wages.
The club would like to wish David every success in his new role.
It hasn't all been about departures and two confirmed signings are Brendan Bennett and Daryl Evans.
Brendan joins us from Knockbreda where he has been since January 2018. He will be 25 in July and is an attacking player who has scored seven times in 20 games this season. He was with Glenavon until July 2014, where he made six appearances in the first team, scoring once. On leaving Mourneview he went to the USA to study, playing college football before returning to N. Ireland and signing for Knockbreda. Brendan is eligible for selection this weekend against Carrick Rangers.
Daryl Evans had played for Distillery from 2010 to 2013 before joining Lisburn Rangers under Paul Kirk. When Kirk left to manage Rathfriland Rangers in July 2016 he took Daryl with him and he has been a fixture at the heart of their defence ever since. As a youngster Daryl played for the County Down Premier side that won the Vase at the Milk Cup, as it was then known, under John Baillie in 2011. Daryl was named the Player's Player of the Tournament. He has also represented the Amateur League in the annual fixture against the Scottish Amateur League for the Britton Rosebowl trophy. Daryl is not available for selection in this weekend's cup game against Carrick Rangers as he played in an earlier round for his previous club.
We welcome both players to Ards and hope their time with us is enjoyable and successful.
